What happens behind the scenes with artifacts, documents, and photographs that the San Joaquin County Historical Museum holds? What new materials have come in? Have any interesting discoveries been made about old ones? How are the materials preserved? What questions do they raise? How can the community of patrons help members of staff maintain and understand them?
These are some of the questions addressed in this blog.
The main authors are Collection Manager Julie Blood and Archivist/Librarian Leigh Johnsen. Other members of the Museum’s staff may also post from time to time. The overall aim is to reveal everyday activities at the Museum not often experienced among visitors and patrons and to stimulate conversations about its collections and issues related to them.
Comments and questions from visitors are welcome. Commercial advertisements and statements unrelated to the subject at hand are not. Members of Museum’s staff retain the right to edit or delete comments that fall outside these guidelines.
The Museum’s physical address, other contact information, and directions can be found at the opening page of its Web site.
