Since its establishment in 1850, San Joaquin County has played a vital role in the growth of both California and the United States. Early visionaries harnessed the region’s land and water to connect communities and feed nations. Innovative entrepreneurs inspired new ways of thinking and working which have helped build the world. Whether they know it or not, there is a significant chance that millions of people around the globe have been touched by the contributions of San Joaquin County in some way.
San Joaquin County has grown from a population of 3,647 in 1850 to 807,637 as of 2024. The cities and towns that have developed over the years are vibrant communities which showcase the hard work and heritage of their founders and residents. Immigrants of all nations have contributed their unique perspectives and cultures to make San Joaquin County a testament to the strength of diversity.
Sharing every detail of San Joaquin County’s 175 years within a single exhibit is a difficult task.
