Our “Innovators in Agriculture” exhibition illustrates the development of intensive, irrigated agriculture in San Joaquin County starting in the early 1900s. The exhibit focuses on six historically significant crops grown in the County: asparagus, cherries, dry beans, canning tomatoes, walnuts, and truck farming (small, diversified farms providing a variety of fruits and vegetables). You’ll learn about the people who worked the lands to produce these crops by interacting with our touch screen displays. Large agricultural equipment, small artifacts, and even a simulated walnut shaker create an immersive experience.
